Current Status
On October 22, 2008, a lawsuit was filed on behalf of 12 Plaintiffs, families who were victims of fraudulent adoptions by Main Street Adoption Services, its directors and management. The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court - Eastern District Michigan.
Allegations include breach of contract, fraud, violations of the RICO Act and various other Federal and State laws. The families have been victimized by the predatory behavior of this agency and its directors.
What is the next step?
On April 6, 2009, a hearing was held on the Defendant's Motion to Dismiss. The court has taken the briefs and arguments under advisement and will issue a written opinion which will give all parties direction for how the case will proceed. The Federal Court Dismissed all but one Plaintiff. We have appealed that decision to the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals. A Decision is still pending.
